The seven deadly sins

Dear friends,

Here's a series of posts related to the most common attitudes in society in general. The seven deadly sins reflect in a very curious way how people deal with life.
First of all, I'd like to stress that biblically, these sins are NOT considered to be deadly. As John says in his first book, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) The only sin the won't be forgiven is blasfemy against the Holy Spirit - but that's pretty much enough for another post.

The first sin I'm going to talk about is PRIDE. According to http://www.deadlysins.com/sins/index.htm, pride is is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Well, it is widely known that pride is present in every society, group of people, civilization. Men tend to see themselves as independent of God and think they can all do anything they want as they want. However, it not like this.
Pride is the very smell of a society in an advanced stage of decomposition. Every person has at least once commited this sin, but just because they have doesn't mean that they're proud. But have you noticed how haughty people act? It's the most rediculous thing... and they don't even need to say a word to cause enmity to arise. The way they walk, talk, think and look down on others show their readiness for bad relationships. This problem can well affect rich, middle class or poor people. It is funny to see how they behave.

Rich people are proud of what they have. "Have you seen my new mansion by the lake? What about my last trip to Europe - have you seen the pictures?". They think they can get more privileges than others and believe their money can buy them everything, even judicial decisions. Little do they know what I know...

Middle class people now. This one is really interesting. They're too proud to be rich - criticize the way affluent people act, say that if they had such a big amount of money, they wouldn't spend it so unwisely and so on. However, they're also too proud to be poor. "Oh, what will my colleagues think if they find out my shoes aren't original?" "What will people say when they find out I didn't go to the mall because I was out of money?" "Honey, today my boss is coming to pay us a visit. Bring out the best china we have so that he won't think we're a bunch of white trash."
Little do they know what I know...

Poor people. There are some very peculiar cases in this class. Some people know they are poor and they work hard to get a better life. Others know they have no money, but accept their situation. Nevertheless, there is this group of people who neither try to improve their living nor accept their situation. If someone tries to help them by giving them clothes or food, they say they don't need this kind of assistance. When they go to the mall or somewhere they know they'll find better off people, they wear their best clothes and act arrogantly to show they too are well-off.

Little do they know what I know...

Of course, the kind of pride I talked about in today's post was the financial one, as there are so many types I could've written about.
What I know is that people worry too much about their social status and situation... they worry about what other people will think about them and they keep trying to prove they're better than others by showing off. Little do they know what I know...

And I know that all of them are equal. All of them take a dump at least once a day and it does stink! All of them need to shower or else they will smell badly... as the saying goes, "The better-ff stink, but can afford to buy perfume."
